Children need space to learn and at Yateley Manor our extensive grounds provide the perfect facilities to inspire and challenge every child.

The Creative Arts and Languages Centre provides state-of-the-art facilities in bright and spacious classrooms. The Music Technology Suite allows children to produce digital music with keyboards connected to computers and the six practice rooms provide ample space for individual and group rehearsals.

The indoor swimming pool is in use all year round. Behind Manor House and Manor Court, the main school building, the spacious sports hall, with its impressive cricket nets, football, netball and basketball facilities, is complemented by a second gymnasium and numerous sports pitches.

Imaginatively equipped play areas give children the freedom to unwind and play creatively. There are a whole host of physical activities to try, including Dance and Ballet in our specially equipped Studio.

Opportunities to use the Berry Cooking Centre are timetabled regularly. Younger children learn how to cook basic meals and understand good food hygiene whilst older children cook across the curriculum in different subjects. This includes preparing food using rationing principles in History lessons and having a complete lesson taught in French, with oral instructions and recipes in the language.

Outdoor learning can boost children’s welfare and their performance at school. Spending time interacting with nature can boost children’s creativity and problem-solving skills. Our Woodland Learning Area has been designed to capitalise on these benefits and, together with the expertise of fully trained staff, the facility really brings out a different side of children.

A climbing wall and an Aeroball frame are popular recent additions to our facilities both donated by FYMS (Friends of Yateley Manor School).

Fyson Blum Hall

Our large modern sports hall is equipped with four full size indoor cricket net bays suitable for use with a hard ball.

The hall also has floor markings for

indoor netball court with junior and senior posts
full size basketball court with drop down goal posts adjustable for junior and senior heights
two small basketball courts with adjustable hoops for junior and senior heights
5-a-side football court with goals
short tennis

The Hall is also used for concerts and assemblies and has a seating capacity for 400 people and a large AV screen.

Swimming Pool

The swimming pool is a 16 metre indoor teaching pool which has a depth of 0.8m at one end and 1.5m at the other end and is ideally suited to teaching young children. It can be divided into three sections across the pool or four lanes and the school regularly hosts swimming galas. The pool is heated to a comfortable 86 degrees Fahrenheit (30 degrees Celsius) and is also used for kayak practice.

Manor Place Hall

A multi-purpose hall with AV screen located in the Manor Place building. It is used for a variety of activities including music recitals and performances, presentations and workshops.

It is also ideal for hiring for dance or exercise classes, parties and martial arts. A small kitchenette and toilets are located just off the hall and tables and chairs are also available.

Music School and Tech Suite

Berry (Cookery Room)

Being able to cook is a life skill and yet it is a skill which is becoming more and more marginalised in schools. At Yateley Manor we are passionate about preparing children for adult lives and cookery is one such skill. Basic cookery starts in our Nursery classes and children develop an awareness of hygiene and cookery utensils as they move through Pre Prep classes. In later years children use the facility to broaden and contextualise their learning across the curriculum, such as cooking in language and science lessons.

The Cuisine Centre can accommodate a class comfortably, with individual sinks and ovens. Our MasterChef clubs after school are very popular.

No matter how proficient a child is at cookery, they will enjoy the practical nature of cookery and enjoy the end results.

Fields and Pitches

Woodland Learning Area

The type of outdoor learning undertaken at Yateley Manor is something quite different from ‘outdoor pursuits’. It is not rock-climbing or kayaking. It is about taking the normal everyday curriculum and teaching it outside. The beauty of teaching outdoors is that the children often do not perceive it as ‘learning’ and yet they learn some of their most valuable lessons there. The lack of walls means that they feel less inhibited – both physically and mentally – and it allows them to join up their thinking by applying it in a real-world context.

Our Woodland Learning Area is on school premises, within the safe confines of the school boundary, with no public access. Here in the safety of an area they know well, children can build dens, look for bugs, construct mud art and even start fires under controlled conditions. It is what childhood should be about!
