Wellington College was founded as a memorial to the great Duke in 1859. Situated in over 400 acres of grounds and with the very finest facilities, the college offers a magnificent educational environment with all that is able to bring out the best in its pupils.
Radical change is on the agenda for the future. Dr Anthony Seldon, an inspirational headmaster with passionate views on education, takes over as Master of Wellington in January 2006. The governors have recently announced that the school will become completely co-educational and the first 13+ girls will arrive in September 2006. The number of scholarships has been significantly increased. Boys and girls with outstanding ability in music, sport, art, dance and drama will now be eligible for scholarships in addition to an increased number of scholarships for academic excellence. The length of day for day pupils has been reduced considerably and morning bus services are being introduced where there is sufficient demand. Open Days take place in October and November.
