Located at the heart of the historic city of Guildford, the RGS has acquired a national reputation for academic excellence since it became independent almost thirty years ago. Virtually all its sixth formers comfortably pass at least three A levels and gain entry to higher education.

The curriculum is both broad and flexible. We also place particular emphasis on the development of each boy’s character, intellect and physique and aim to support him in his growth towards adulthood. To this end, we offer a wide range of sporting, cultural and social activities which complement the academic curriculum, and we also encourage boys to view the school as a living community in which they all play an important part. Our aim is that boys leaving the RGS should take with them not only an excellent academic education, but also a strong sense of social responsibility.

The RGS is a day school. Boys normally enter at 11+ from state schools, 13+ from prep schools or at 16+,but we are sometimes able to admit boys at other times, depending on the availability of places. Scholarships and Bursaries enable boys from a less affluent background to enjoy an RGS education. Parents are welcome to visit the school, look round and meet the Headmaster. The Admissions’ Registrar will supply a prospectus and arrange appointments.
