Pangbourne College—A Unique Experience ‘We are here to study and learn’ reads the first line of the Code of Conduct of Pangbourne College, a highly distinctive school where developing the individual child’s talents and fostering an early excitement and real enthusiasm for learning, is a key priority. Academic success is important but it is just one part of the Pangbourne experience. Leadership, self-discipline and a keen appreciation of the importance of service to others, are aspects of College life that are promoted strongly in recognition of the responsibility owed to young students, to equip them with excellent communication skills and a real understanding of conduct and courtesy; qualities that will secure for them, positive recognition from future employers and early success in their chosen careers. Pangbourne College is an encouragingly small community of just 400 boarding and day boys and girls and yet the range of opportunities available for individual interests and talent to be discovered and developed are unusually extensive. The College enjoys considerable success in rowing (four times Henley winners), rugby and hockey and there is an extremely strong tradition of music, art and drama. It is the pupils themselves that are the strongest testimony to the success of the Pangbourne experience. Their easy confidence and self assuredness, their willingness to assist, their courtesy and genuine respect for one another regardless of age and peer group, is clearly evident as they move about the campus – here indeed is a student body that is a credit to the College, their families and to themselves.
