Girls at Guildford High School learn how to learn, how to think creatively and how to take responsibility for their work. We set high expectations for all with learning as our key focus. We are a community in which everyone is known, valued and feels secure. Pupils are supported and encouraged to reach their potential.

We have a relevant, dynamic and innovative approach to the curriculum. All pupils study Philosophy and Critical Thinking and research skills are developed throughout the school. There is an interactive whiteboard in each classroom.

We have excellent pastoral care: it is key to our happy and successful school. We have a system of Form Tutors, Heads of Year and, of course, a Deputy Head responsible for pastoral matters. When the girls arrive in Year 7, they are assigned a ‘buddy’ from Year 8 who will steer them through the first term and beyond.

The School has an extensive extra-curricular and curriculum-enrichment programme, encompassing sport, drama, music and much more besides.

As a result, our girls achieve outstanding success at all levels from SATS to GCSE and A Level. This year, our A level pass rate is 100%, with 89.1% of our girls achieving A and B grades. Most importantly, the majority of our girls went onto their first choice university. At GCSE 89% of the results were graded A or A* and 9 girls were awarded the top five marks in the country.

Guildford High School is lively, vibrant, friendly and purposeful. As one pupil said, “I think the best thing about being at Guildford High School is the community, the way you are always surrounded by your friends, and the way people in other years talk to you, and smile at you as you walk past, even if you don’t know them.”
