Bradfield College was founded in 1850 by Thomas Stevens, Rector and Lord of the Manor of Bradfield: he gave what is today the village of Bradfield to the College. During the later Nineteenth Century it developed into a well-known public school and today is one of the leading independent boarding schools in the South of England, especially known for its pastoral care, all round education, excellent facilities and Year 9 boarding house, Faulkner’s.

The College has around 650 pupils: the College has been fully co-educational since 2003 and has a tradition of Sixth Form girl students going back to the eighties. We are mainly boarding but with the possibility of day places.

Set in its own village, with grounds, including a 9 hole golf course, extending to some 240 acres, Bradfield is easily reached by road via the M4 and by rail through Reading, and is well placed for access to and from Heathrow and Gatwick airports.

Bradfield College has many fine qualities, but without doubt the most important is the recognition which your son or daughter receives as a unique and valued individual. You, the parents, are closely involved with us as we meet the distinctive needs of your child together.

This emphasis on pastoral care, and on a sense of partnership between staff and pupils and between school and home, is balanced with our commitment to achieving excellence in academic, cultural and sporting pursuits.

The environment at Bradfield is stimulating in its breadth of opportunity and yet personal in its scale and thus each pupil is encouraged towards the development of an independence of mind and character, and the acquisition of a civilised and enduring set of values.

I am confident that in an atmosphere of high expectation, backed by constant encouragement, we can offer your child the reality of personal achievement and success. The pupils not only enjoy an all round education, but have the opportunity through our excellent facilities and participative culture to find their particular niche, whether that is sporting, musical, artistic or theatrical.

I warmly invite you to visit the College to meet me, the staff and the pupils and to experience for yourself what we all consider to be special about Bradfield. I would also encourage you, as a first step, to visit our Website, for detailed information.
