Assessments are based on each child's day to day performance during the reporting period. The grades used are exactly the same as used for assessing individual pieces of work and recorded every three weeks in Accounts.

Most children will get a Grade of 3 up to 4 for both Effort and Content in most subjects. As a school, we ask first that individuals work hard - you will probably want to discuss an Effort Grade below 3 with your child and the Teacher. Children getting Grades of 2 or 1 for Content will be struggling against the set tasks. This could be for a number of reasons - lack of maturity, a specific problem or periods of absence due to illness, for example.
The system of Grades is consistent and used for all years through from Reception to Year 8, the final year of the senior school. Most children's Grades will probably not vary greatly from year to year and the consistency should enable you to track progress over time and across different Year groups.
The final report at the End of Year will include this interim report and will comment on subsequent performance. Please bring this report to next Parents Evening and feel free to annotate it, treating it as a working document. Please keep this report and the folder provided for it as further reports, and Accounts, can then be filed in the same folder for ease of reference. |
