An explanation of the mark system is on the bottom of each Account. We would expect most children to score an average between 3 and 4 in each subject, the higher the better. Averages below 3 could indicate cause for concern, especially if repeated over several accounts.
Accounts will be produced at regular 3 to 4 weekly intervals throughout the academic year and when we are confident we can manage the fairly complex operations involved we will publish the dates of Accounts in advance in the school calendar. As our ability and experience grows, we will be able to include more information if this is useful. In this first Account Years 3 and 4 have averages only for English and Mathematics - more information will be given in later Accounts. Quartiles will also be included in the cumulative information.
These first Average Accounts show the average grades achieved for work in this Accounting period (since the start of term). Future Accounts will show the Averages over each 3 or 4 weekly period together with past averages, period by period, and a cumulative average over the year to date.
All Grades of 5, whether for Effort or Achievement, automatically carry a new award, a Subject Commendation, which stands below a Headmaster's Commendation.
You will see the averages for C ontent and E ffort by subject and then Overall, a combined average of averages. Next to this column comes one headed Change, which will enable you to see quickly whether there is continuity, acceleration, or a falling off. |
